Birds with Words! More special offers.
Birds with Words
My podcast, Birds with Words, now officially has the first few episodes recorded. I also already have a guest speakers recorded and ready to go. What can you expect from Birds with Words?
Sometimes I will do a reading of my stories. I will also share my own personal insight into movies, books, games, along with and my opinion on them as a media. I’ll invite other authors to read stories or sections of their work and interview them on what inspired their stories. Finally, I will share my own experience and journey as a writer.
If there are questions you want answered, or a topic you would like me to cover, please reach out to me! I want to provide the entertainment and insight you seek.
Episode 1 Here!
A Fold to Extinction - Free!
I am happy to announce that for the next 72 hours, A Fold to Extinction is free on kindle!
“If you’re a Jurassic Park fan, this is a good short spin on the Crichton classics. A novel you can get through in a weekend with an engrossing story what keeps you entertained all the way through.” - Amazon review
“It was as if Tom Clancy made a Sci-fi novel and combined the jungle warfare of Predator, the pitfalls of Jurassic Park, and the desperate fight and impending doom of Aliens 2. It was truly a page turner that caused me to stay up too late several nights. I can’t wait for whatever this author comes up with next.” - Amazon review
Family Update
How are the Fitzgeralds holding up? My daughter finally got to experience all of the Holidays with Mom and Dad. We’ve come a long way since the NICU days. She’s a happy little girl and is always wearing a smile.
The wife and I are trudging along. 2024 was rough on us with the tornadoes and then back-to-back storms. Our neighborhood will long bare those scars. Aside from recovery, I continue to be amazed by the movies my wife has not seen. Don’t judge her too harshly, she refuses to watch The Godfather.
More personal, my wife gifted me the Mantis trainer. For you non-firearm enthusiasts, it’s an electronic trainer I can use on my firearms without having to go to the range to upkeep basic skills. I won’t lie, it’s pretty fun (not as fun as shooting for real).
We also have the worse luck with our dryer. Sometimes you just have to accept you have a lemon. After replacing the heating element twice, the sensor four times, and the moisture sensor once, all in the 4 years of owning it… well, it’s time to part ways.
January was also a first for my little family - we had snow in Florida! It’s not the same type of snow I grew up with, more just sheet ice, but it was a nice family experience. But I hope I don’t need to experience it again while in Florida. I left the bitter cold mountains for a reason.
Sinner’s Pass: Awards!
Sinner’s Pass has picked up two titles since the close of 2024. Winner of the Reader Views 5 Star Review and Runner-up to the 2024 Halloween Book Festival. Reviews continue to trickle in on both Amazon and GoodReads. Don’t take my word for it, go check it out!
I asked - You Answered!
In my December newsletter I had a poll asking which font would look best for the cover of Alone Together. The majority, 60% chose Font 2, which is called Decrepit (BRK). I didn’t want to tip the scales with my own opinion, but this was also my preferred font as well! Regardless, your input has solidified the font that will appear on the front cover and cover page for Alone Together.
Thank you all who participated!
I cannot wait to show you the cover art. I worked with a very talented artist to get my vision to be a reality. As always, I will share that art here with you all first before any other media. Stay tuned!
August of the People
In January I had the unique opportunity to be an Advance Reader for V.F. Aubrey. Aimed at the hearts of young adults, the August of the People follows a young emerging leader in a future Post-Apocalyptic Neo-Pleistocene era. After struggling with his initial failure, August has to rise to lead his people, and he begins to learn he has a connection to a sinister past.
Aubrey’s talent is settled in his world building. His use of plain language will help draw in young readers and captivate them in a primal futuristic society. A yearning to know more about the world is left, perfect for the start of a series. We will need to come back and learn more about what caused the collapse of civilization.
“August Dividale has a dangerous secret. Two warring histories brew within him, and they’re about to collide.”
Alpha/Beta Readers Needed!
I need Alpha and Beta readers. What are those? Readers who do the first looks at a new manuscript before being officially published. What comes with the role? Simply the expectation that you read the raw manuscripts, provide feedback, and once the official release is out - leave a comment on Amazon and/or GoodReads.
Alpha and Beta readers are crucial as they provide perspectives on what I should expect from my future audience. You also get a nice spot in the acknowledgements in whatever book you choose to assist with!
If interested in becoming an Alpha or Beta reader, please send all inquiries to: S.S.Fitzgerald.Writing@gmail.com
